Monthly email newsletter

In addition to these web pages, we also send out a short email once a month, nominally on the first of the month, that announces new beer and wine. If you want to receive this newsletter via email you can either fill out a card at the pub (available on the bar) or click here to subscribe, where you can also see the archive of past newletters.

Below is a sample of a recent newsletter. Our newsletters contain no images and no embedded html (other than links to brewer info) to decrease the chance that your work email servers will tag it as "spam".

8) New draught beers:
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale - "is an award-winning example of the traditional barleywine ale style. It boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color. This ale is superbly balanced between an almost overpowering maltiness and a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness."

“…Bigfoot captures the imagination, and its character is as big as the name implies, with a huge hoppiness in its earthy aroma, a chewy palate, and a great depth of flavor.”
– Michael Jackson,
Michael Jackson’s Beer Companion

Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale - "Belgian Ales represent the height of the brewers' art. Sophisticated brewing techniques, yeast blends and unique flavoring elements have elevated the beers of Belgium to the status enjoyed by wine in other countries. Pranqster follows in this tradition using a mixed culture of antique yeast strains that results in a floral nose, a full fruity flavor and a clean finish. It's a deceptive 6.9% alcohol and should be enjoyed with a full head. "We're excited about the techniques we've developed to bring this fruity, complicated ale to the American market," says North Coast Brewing Co. Brewmaster Mark Ruedrich. "Belgium produces the most diverse group of beers in the world. We've always been impressed with them, and it's really gratifying to be able to create something in that style."

Kostritzer Dark Lager- "Commonly known as “Black Beer”, this beer was made in the castles of two local aristocrats between the 1500s and 1600s, and won a wide reputation in the 1700s. This black brew has a
spicy aroma hinting at red peppers, figs and bitter chocolate. The same character emerges in big, expressive, smooth, long, dry, well-combined flavors."

Barons Black Wattle Original Ale, 5.8% ABV -"Barons Black Wattle Original Ale was the first in this new class of beer - flavoured by native Australian roasted wattle seed. This multi award-winning ale has a rich amber colour and a base malt flavour of toffee and caramel. The roasted wattle seed rounds out the offering with a unique taste that hints of hazelnut, chocolate and mocha. It is a full bodied, full flavoured beer that is surprisingly smooth with an amazingly silky finish."

Hofbräu Dunkel - ( 5.5 % Alc. By Volume) "For centuries Munich’s favourite beer. Our dark lager. It has a light body, is easy to drink, with simple roasted malt flavor and slight caramel undertones."
http://www.hofbrauhausnewport.com/beer.html

Blue Moon Rising Moon Spring Ale - "is a handcrafted amber wheat ale with an extra zest, only brewed in the spring. Blue Moon Rising Moon Spring Ale is available in bottles and kegs. The brew has 164 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.4 percent alcohol by volume."

9) New bottled beer
Rahr's Ugly Pug- "is a schwarzbier, or black lager. But the real story is its name. Fritz saw his mother-in-law’s pug, Oscar, lounging in a chair and he (Fritz) shouted, “What an ugly pug!” Everyone laughed. Your’re right – they were drinking a test batch that night."
http://www.rahrbrewing.com/uglypug.html

Rahr Red- "Rahr's Red is a delicious, medium-bodied amber beer. As it crosses over your tongue, you'll notice a bit of caramel-like malt character. You'll also notice a slight hops bitterness-there to remind you that despite its subtle flavoring Rahr's Red is a Texas beer."
http://www.rahrbrewing.com/rahrred.html

Boulevard Irish Ale - "Irish Ale, Boulevard's spring seasonal beer is our Midwestern tribute to the legendary red ales of old Ireland. Our recipe combines six kinds of pale and roasted barley malts to provide a rich, toasty flavor and tawny reddish hue."
http://www.blvdbeer.com/irishale.htm

Leinenkugels Berry Weiss- "Enjoy its unique color, aroma and sweet taste over ice, or mix it with Honey Weiss for a perfect refresher. This tasty fruit beer, around since 1996 and winner of the Bronze medal in the Fruits and Vegetable category at the Great American Beer Festival 2004, is brewed with Pale and Wheat malts, Cluster hops, and flavored with a blend of blackberries, elderberries and loganberries.
